What affects the cost
- Roofline length. Priced per linear foot, so a longer roofline costs more. Your design visit gives you the exact measurement.
- Roof height and pitch. Two-story and steep rooflines have their own rate, and peaks above the second story add $1/ft.
- Trees and bushes. Trees are priced by wrap height and trunk thickness; bushes are priced each.
- Extras. Wreaths, garland, window and door outlines, column wraps and walkway stakes.
- Plan length. 5-year plans save about 20% and 3-year plans about 11% compared with a single season.
Every plan includes commercial-grade LED lights custom-cut to your home, clips and a timer, free service calls all season, burned-out bulb replacement, and January takedown and storage. Prices are per season, plus applicable sales tax.
How much to hang Christmas lights yourself vs. hiring a pro
Doing it yourself isn't free. You'll need to buy lights, clips, extension cords and timers, find a ladder tall enough for your roofline, and give up a weekend or two on the roof. Then you do it all again in reverse after the holidays, and find somewhere to store it all. Professional Christmas light installation costs more up front, but the design, commercial-grade lights, service calls, takedown and storage are all handled for you. Save with a multi-year plan
A multi-year holiday lighting plan locks in your per-season price. On our example home, the 5-year plan is $1,430 a season instead of $1,790 on a 1-year plan. And if you move, your plan isn't lost: transfer it to the buyer or bring it to your new home in our area.
